Quick Start Interval
Training
There are some great ways to get
started quickly with interval training. You will do your body a
whole lot of good as well as looking toned, feeling stronger
and healthier and looking great.
These 'quick start' routines may be
short - but they are tough. So... even if you
are fit, start them off slowly. If you are not fit, check with
your doctor before you start.
I recommend everyone to get Al
Sears book and benchmark yourself before you start - measure
your heart rate after exercise and your recovery time - how
long it takes to get your heart back to normal.
Alternate These Interval Training
Routines
These two routines are great to
alternate. I am doing the first on days 1, 3 and 5, and the
second on days 2, 4 and 6.
You might prefer to do them less often
- 3 times a week is very good.
6-minute Whole Body
Workout
The first workout is recommended by one
of Dr Sears' coaches. This one move - repeated - exercises all
the main muscle groups - upper, lower, and middle
body.
Start slowly, and increase the
repetitions each couple of weeks, up to the maximum.

6-minute Abdominal Workout
If you check out this video, you will
not realize there were so many ways to crunch those
abs!
The extra great feature is that it is
made with just one piece of equipment - a couch. No doubt the
maker had tongue firmly in cheek here.
This exercise is very tough on the abs,
but also very good for you. The video does not recommend enough
rest; so after each set, rest for 1-2 minutes to regain normal
breathingand heart rate before carrying on. This means it will
fit in with interval training theory, and so be much better for
you in every way.
It is a great
workout.
6-Minute Abdominal
Workout - Using A Couch
I had trouble remembering the workout
when lying on my couch; so I took a few screen shots to help my
memory. You can download that 'aid memoire' here and print it
out.
Either click and it should open, so you
can print it; or right click and download to your
computer.
